Sensory Profile
With four senses' worth of cortex available (~80-85% cortical recruitment), Clyde has developed: extraordinary echolocation (perceiving objects, size, shape, material through sound reflection), frequency discrimination far exceeding any measured human capability, detection of heartbeats at close range, lie detection through vocal micro-tremors, tracking multiple conversations simultaneously, identification of individuals by gait pattern. Navigates by echo and sound-map.
Silence equals void. Carpeted rooms, snow, and open spaces absorb echoes. Loud sounds are existentially threatening. Cannot read, cannot recognize faces, cannot detect visual-only threats.
His mother singing a hymn he can reproduce perfectly but has never told anyone about.
CANNOT Perceive (Absolute)
Sensory exclusivity is absolute. Violations destroy the premise. Zero exceptions.

Before the Hunt
Piano tuner, busker. Can't hold jobs — his temper costs him every repeat booking. Extraordinary at tuning but can't stop himself from correcting people.
[TO BE DEVELOPED — White, Oklahoma tenant farmer stock. Signs of institutional upbringing and years of Bowery poverty. Would show physical markers of someone who navigates by sound: head movements, particular posture.]

Relationships
Clyde ↔ Della — The Leadership Axis Co-leaders whose leadership styles are i
ncompatible. Clyde leads through force, urgency, and direct action. Della leads through strategy, analysis, and planning. When they agree, the group moves. When they don't, the group fractures. Their direct channel is tap code — Della taps on any surface (table, wall, chair arm, Clyde's shoulder) in
Clyde ↔ Elwin — The Wou
nd The most functional sibling and the most dependent. Unspoken resentment about the care burden. Elwin has tasted Clyde's resentment in the chemical traces on his skin for years. The novel's deepest emotional landmine — and the site of its most important detonation in the final pages.
